"Conceptual artists Langlands & Bell are a duo ahead of their time.
Perhaps best known for their work in architecture, sculpture, photography and film, an ever-increasing interest in technology has seen them exploring and exploiting the digital medium for their art long before it was fashionable to do so.
This month, in something of a first for both wallpaper.com and the artists, Langlands & Bell have taken us up on our offer to exhibit a wide range of their impressive oeuvre of digital and interactive animation online, in the form of a guerilla website hosted by wallpaper.com for a limited time period.
The new site, Departures - itself a new artwork created especially for wallpaper.com - will also house the debut of Langlands & Bell's stunning brand new work Virtual World (video above), a subtle and simplistic work with a complex agenda: to make sense of the digital world. As standalone pieces the digital works of Langlands & Bell are impressive, but viewed together as a whole provides them with a context that imbues them with more power still."
